Customizing the Keyboard’s Behavior

Windows Phone 8 lets you fully customize the onscreen keyboard’s behavior. For instance, you can disable the Auto Correct option or automatic capitalization. To customize the keyboard’s behavior, go to the Settings page, tap Keyboard, and complete these steps:

1. Tap your preferred language.

2. Deselect the options that you want to disable. The keyboard behavior options that are available for American English keyboards include these:

Suggest Text: Causes the phone to display a list of words as you type. You can tap these suggestions as a shortcut instead of having to type the entire word.

Highlight Misspelled Words: When this option is enabled, misspelled words are underlined.

Correct Misspelled Words: When enabled, this option causes Windows to automatically correct misspelled words.

Insert a Space After Selecting a Suggestion: This option causes a space to be inserted when you select block of text.

Insert a Period After Double Tapping the Spacebar: If you double-tap the spacebar at the end of a sentence, this option inserts a period before the spaces.

Capitalize the First Letter of a Sentence: This option causes the first letter of a sentence to be automatically capitalized.
