Even though Windows Phone 8 is
designed to access the Internet through a cellular connection, the
phone also supports Wi-Fi connectivity. Wi-Fi connections allow for
faster Internet connectivity than what is possible through a cellular
link, and using Wi-Fi has the added benefit of not incurring any data
charges on your cellular bill. All Windows Phone 8 devices include
support for 802.11b and 802.11g; some phones also offer 802.11n support.
Enabling or Disabling Wi-Fi
You can enable or disable Wi-Fi on a Windows Phone 8 device by going to the Settings screen and following these steps:
1. Tap Wi-Fi.
2. Use the slide bar to enable or disable Wi-Fi.
Connecting to a Wi-Fi Network
To connect a Windows Phone 8 device to a Wi-Fi network, go to the Settings screen and complete these steps:
1. Tap Wi-Fi.
2. Verify that Wi-Fi Networking is enabled.
3. Tap the Wi-Fi network that you want to connect to.
4. If the network is
secured, it prompts you to enter the network password. If you have
trouble entering the password blindly, you can select the Show Password
check box to make the password visible. Remember that most wireless
access points use case-sensitive passwords.
5. Tap Done. You see a message indicating that you are connected to the wireless network.
