Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 : Setting Up Transport Rules (part 2) - Selecting Conditions and Exceptions

2/13/2014 3:39:44 AM

2. Selecting Conditions and Exceptions

Because conditions and exceptions are both involved in identifying whether a given message should be processed by the rule, it should be no surprise that they give you the same set of options. Which options you get depends on whether you're creating the rule on a Hub Transport or Edge Transport server. The Exchange 2010 help files contain detailed descriptions of how each of these conditions and exceptions are defined and applied, but the following discussion should help you get an idea of what types of selection criteria you have available at your fingertips.

2.1. Hub Transport Conditions and Exceptions

The conditions of the rule define the circumstances under which the rule will apply. Figure 2 shows the Conditions page of the Edit Transport Rule wizard and some of the conditions that can be applied to the rule.
