Windows Phone 8 Apps : Alarms

12/15/2014 3:11:01 AM

Windows Phone 8 has a built-in app that enables the phone to act as an alarm clock. This app can be handy if you travel and either forget to bring an alarm clock or prefer not to bring one.

Setting an Alarm

You can set an alarm on your phone by opening Alarms from the Apps screen and completing these steps:

1. Tap the Add icon.

2. Tap the Time field and set the time for the alarm.

3. Tap the Repeats field and select the check boxes corresponding to the days you want the alarm to sound. Choose Only Once if you don’t want the alarm to go off on subsequent days.

4. Tap the Sound field. Choose the alarm sound you want to use. You can preview an alarm sound by tapping its Play icon.

5. Tap the Name field to enter a specific name for your alarm. This way, if you have more than one alarm, you can easily differentiate between them.

6. Tap the Save icon.

Disabling an Alarm

If you set a recurring alarm and decide that you don’t need it now but want to keep it for later use, you can easily disable it. To do so, go to the Apps screen, tap Alarms, and follow these steps:

1. Locate the alarm you want to disable.

2. Set the alarm’s slide bar to Off.

Deleting an Alarm

Disabling an alarm simply suspends the alarm so that it is not active—it does not delete the alarm. If you want to delete an alarm, you can do so by going to the App screen, tapping Alarms, and completing these steps:

1. Tap the alarm you want to delete.

2. Tap the Delete icon.
