Playing Music in the Background
Windows Phone 8 devices are capable of
playing music in the background. In other words, if you start up some
music and then press the Start button, switch to another app, or even
turn off the phone’s display, that music continues to play. You can
control music that is playing in the background by using either the
Music+Videos hub or the phone’s lock screen.
Controlling Background Music Through the Music+Videos Hub
One way to control music that is playing in
the background is to simply return to the Music+Videos hub. Upon doing
so, you can access the controls for the media player by completing
these steps:
1. Flick to the Collection page.
2. Tap the track that is currently playing.
3. The resulting screen includes audio controls that you can use to pause the audio or switch tracks.
Controlling Background Music from the Lock Screen
Even if you’ve set aside your phone for a bit
and it has returned to the lock screen you, can control music playback
without returning to the Music+Videos hub. When music is playing and
you activate your phone’s display, the lock screen includes audio
controls like the ones shown here.
Missing Audio Controls
The audio controls display on the lock screen for only a few seconds.
